This Article shall be known and may be cited
as "Standard Road Sections and Private Drive Entrances" within the
Township of Patterson, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
The following regulations and conditions under
which piped underdrains may be placed across private driveway entrances
leading from public streets within the Township, and as shown on the
map dated June 30, 1943, prepared by Michael Baker, Jr., Township
Engineer, are hereby adopted, as follows:
A. On all streets designated as being 40 feet or less
in width, the following regulations will exist:
(1) The minimum distance from the center line of the road
to the center line of the pipe shall be 12 feet.
(2) The minimum distance from the center line of the road
to the top of the ditch shall be 10 feet.
(3) The elevation at the top of the ditch, 10 feet from
the center line of the road, shall be not less than five inches below
the grade of the center line opposite.
B. On all streets designated as being 50 feet or more
in width, the following regulations will exist:
(1) The minimum distance from the center line of the road
to the center line of the pipe shall be 15 feet.
(2) The minimum distance from the center line of the road
to the top of the ditch shall be 13 feet.
(3) The elevation at the top of the ditch, 13 feet from
the center line of the road, shall be not less than seven and three-eighths
(7 3/8) inches below the grade of the center line opposite.
C. On all streets, irrespective of designated widths,
the following regulations will exist:
(1) The minimum size of pipe allowable for use as underdrains
shall be 12 inches in diameter.
(2) Should pipe larger than 12 inches in diameter be used,
the minimum distance from the center line of the road to the center
line of the pipe will be determined by the depth at which the flow
line of the pipe is placed below the elevation of the top of the ditch.
A minimum slope of one and one-half to one (1 1/2:1) must be maintained
from the top of the ditch to the flow line.
(3) The crown of the paved area of all streets is to conform
to a parabola with a grade of three-eighths (3/8) inch per foot drop
from the center line to the edge of the paving.
(4) The slope of the berm or shoulder of the roadway is
to drop one inch per foot from the edge of the paving to the outside
edge of the berm.
(5) The elevation of the flow line of a twelve-inch-diameter
pipe shall be not less than one foot six inches below the elevation
of the top of the ditch adjacent to the inlet of the pipe.
If, in the opinion of the Board of Township
Commissioners of the Township of Patterson, Beaver County, Pennsylvania,
pipe underdrains now in existence are not in conformity with the requirements
of this article, the Township Commissioners may remove such pipe underdrains,
at the expense of the Township, and the pipe so removed shall be returned
to the owner, who shall thereupon construct the same in accordance
with the provisions of this article.
The aforesaid map and accompanying data shown
thereon, dated June 30, 1943, is hereby adopted by the Township Commissioners,
and a copy thereof shall be kept on file in the office of the Township
Secretary.
