Township of Patterson, PA Article V Tax Certification Letters

§ 172-35 Purpose; fee authorized.

A. Findings; purpose.

(1) The duly elected Tax Collector of the Township of Patterson is requested on numerous occasions to provide tax certification letters, and said service is important for the smooth and effective flow of commerce within the local real estate market;

(2) The Tax Collector expends time and incurs costs when providing services; and

(3) The Tax Collector is entitled to compensation for said services and compliance with Section 3(a) of the State Ethics Act is required.

B. Therefore, the Township of Patterson appoints the Township Tax Collector/Treasurer as the municipal officer authorized to provide tax certifications upon request by the public and hereby authorizes the Tax Collector to assess and collect a fee of $15 for said service. One-half of the fee collected shall be retained by the Tax Collector and 1/2 shall be paid to the Township General Fund.
