[Adopted 10-3-1989 as Ch. 35, Art. I, of the 1989 Code]
The Borough of Trafford shall become a participant in the social security system, and the benefits of old age and survivors insurance shall be extended to its employees and officers.
The Borough Council of the Borough of Trafford, the Mayor of the Borough of Trafford and the Secretary of the Borough of Trafford, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver to the Secretary of Labor and Industry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the state agency charged with the administration of the Enabling Act,[1] the plan and agreement required under the provisions of Section 6 of said Enabling Act[2] and the Social Security Act, to extend coverage to the employees and officers of the Borough of Trafford and to do all other things necessary to that end.

The Treasurer of the Borough of Trafford, with the assistance of the Secretary of the Borough of Trafford, be and they are hereby authorized to make all required payments into the Contribution Fund established by Section 7 of said Enabling Act[1] and to establish such system of payroll deductions from the salaries of officers and employees as may be necessary for their coverage under said old age and survivors insurance system.

The Borough Council of the Borough of Trafford hereby appropriates, from the proper fund or funds of said borough, the amounts necessary to pay into the Contribution Fund as provided in Section 4 of the Enabling Act[1] and in accordance with the plan or plans and agreement.

The proper officers of the Borough of Trafford shall do all things, in accordance with the provisions contained in the plan and agreement, necessary for the continued implementation of said old age and survivors insurance system.
The Borough of Trafford shall become a participant in the social security system, and such participation shall commence as of January 1, 1951.
