Pursuant to C.G.S. § 7-136, there
is established the Economic Development Commission of the Town of
Haddam (hereinafter referred to as the "Commission").
The Commission shall annually elect from its
membership a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson/Treasurer, and a Secretary.
The Commission may establish such other officers as it deems necessary.
No member shall serve in any office for longer than one year.
The Commission may recommend to the Board of
Selectmen the appointment and hiring of employees, agents and consultants
as may be necessary for the discharge of its duties, within the limits
of the Commission's appropriations, and subject to the personnel and
procurement provisions of the Charter of the Town of Haddam.
The Commission may request that the Board of
Selectmen apply for grants from state and federal agencies and other
sources, which grants shall be received by the Selectmen on behalf
of the Town.
The Commission shall submit each year a budget
to the Selectmen, at a time designated by the Selectmen, for inclusion
in the Selectmen's budget proposal.
