This chapter shall be known and cited as the
"Monroe County Taxicab Law."
The purpose of this chapter is to provide for
the regulation and licensing by the County of Monroe of all taxicabs
and similar vehicles for hire, as hereafter defined, that are owned,
operated and doing business within the County of Monroe outside the
City of Rochester. This chapter is intended to go into effect October
1, 1967, at the same time as a revised City of Rochester taxicab ordinance
which regulates taxicabs owned, operated and doing business within
the boundaries of the city. As a result of public hearings, conferences
and the cooperation of the Office of the Corporation Counsel of the
City of Rochester, the provisions of this chapter and said city taxicab
ordinance complement each other, wherever feasible, in order to facilitate
compliance and enforcement and thus serve the best interests of the
taxicab business and the people of Monroe County.
