A Municipal Court for the Borough of South Plainfield is established as of January 1, 1949, pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 2B:12-1 et seq.

The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court of the Borough of South Plainfield."
The Municipal Court shall have a seal which shall bear the impress of the name of the Court.
There shall be a Judge of the Municipal Court, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council and who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.

The said Municipal Court and the Judge thereof shall have, possess and exercise all the functions, powers, duties and jurisdiction conferred by the provisions of N.J.S.A. 2B:12-1 et seq. or by any other law.

A. 
There shall be a Municipal Court Administrator who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified. He shall perform such functions and duties as are prescribed for him by law, the rules of the courts and the Judge
B. 
The Judge of a Municipal Court may designate, in writing, an Acting Administrator or Deputy Administrator to serve temporarily for an absent Administrator or Deputy Administrator until the absent Administrator or Deputy Administrator returns or a new Administrator or Deputy Administrator is appointed. The Acting Administrator or Acting Deputy Administrator shall be paid at a rate established by the Judge but not exceeding that established for the Administrator or Deputy Administrator.

The Municipal Court shall be held in the Borough Hall. Court hours are as follows:
A. 
First Wednesday of the month: two sessions at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
B. 
Second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month: three sessions at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
C. 
Fifth Wednesday of the month: no Court.

The Municipal Court Clerk shall provide duplicates of Municipal Court records upon written request received therefor and shall charge and receive the sum of $5 for such service. The said charge shall include up to three pages of duplication. There shall be an additional charge made and collected of $0.50 for each additional page duplicated.
