The Borough of Bradford Woods hereby recognizes the Bradford Woods Volunteer
Fire Company and Relief Association, a nonprofit corporation organized and
existing under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and accords it
the status of the official Volunteer Fire Company of the Borough.
The Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association is hereby given all power, so far as the Borough of Bradford Woods has power to grant the same, to enact such rules and regulations for the management and government of individual members thereof as shall be necessary for the proper maintenance and control of said Volunteer Fire Company. Neither the grant of the aforesaid power nor the recognition set forth in §
27-1 of this chapter shall be construed as constituting the Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association as an agent, department, or employee of the Borough of Bradford Woods except insofar as such effect is provided under the provisions of the Act of June 2, 1915, P.L. 736, No. 338, as reenacted and amended, known as the “Worker's Compensation Act,” or the Act of October 5, 1980, P.L. 693, No. 142, known as the
“Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act.”
The members of the Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company and Relief
Association may elect from their number such officers and directors as may
be provided by the charter and bylaws thereof.
In addition to participating in the activities of the Volunteer Fire Company as authorized in §
27-4 of this chapter, or in going to or returning from any activity, the members of the Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association are also authorized to do the following:
A. Engage in any type of drill, training, ceremony, practice,
test or parade when duly called for or authorized by an officer or officers
of the Volunteer Fire Company;
B. Engage in fund-raising activities for the Volunteer Fire
Company, when authorized by an officer or officers of the Volunteer Fire Company;
C. Engage in hall rentals for public and/or private functions,
including functions where alcoholic beverages may be served; and
D. Engage in the performance of any other duty or activity
authorized by any officer or officers of the recognized Volunteer Fire Company.
