No person shall carry a knife with a blade greater than three
inches in length on or about his or her person, except in his or her
place of abode or fixed place of business or employment.
The provisions of §
289-9 of this article shall not apply to:
A. Constables, sheriffs, prison or jail wardens or their deputies, policemen
of this commonwealth or its political subdivisions or other law enforcement
officers.
B. Members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard
of the United States or of the National Guard or organized reserves
when on duty.
C. Any person engaged in the manufacturing, repairing or selling of
knives or the agent or representative of any such person having in
his or her possession, using or carrying a knife in the usual or ordinary
course of such business.
D. Any person while carrying a knife in a secure wrapper from the place
of purchase to his or her home or place of business or to a place
of repair or back to his or her home or place of business or in moving
from one place of abode or business to another.
E. Persons licensed to hunt or fish in the commonwealth, if such persons
are actually hunting or fishing or are going to the places where they
desire to hunt or fish or are returning from such places.
The Chief of Police of the Borough of Eddystone is hereby authorized
to seize or remove and destroy any knife which shall be carried or
concealed by any person within the Borough of Eddystone in violation
of this article.
Every person violating the provisions of this article shall,
upon conviction before a District Justice, be sentenced to pay a fine
not exceeding $1,000, together with the costs of prosecution, and,
upon default in the payment thereof, be sentenced to undergo imprisonment
for a period not exceeding 30 days.
