[Added 12-4-1990 by Ord. No. 90-19;
amended 7-1-2014 by Ord. No. 14-13; ]
A. The employer shall assume the cost of health care, including prescription
and dental benefits for an employee and dependents, when said employee
retires with 25 years or more of service to the employer; provided,
however that the retired employee must contribute to the cost of health
care plans to the same extent as active employees.
B. Starting at age 65, the employee shall be responsible to obtain Medicare

plan shall be deemed secondary coverage. The employee shall provide
the employer proof of enrollment in Medicare and Medicare Part B.
C. Health care coverage, upon retirement under this section, shall be
considered a benefit of the employee. The employee shall retain the
health care coverage for the employee's life, when all benefits/coverage
hereunder shall terminate. After retirement, the health care benefit
shall not be expanded (i.e., single coverage cannot become husband
and wife coverage). No persons who were not covered by the employee's
health care benefit at the time of retirement shall be entitled to
be covered after retirement.
[Added 3-3-2015 by Ord.
No. 15-06]
(1) To receive this health care benefit, the employee must notify the
Borough of Runnemede, in writing, not less than 120 days prior to
the employee's retirement date.
(2) For good cause and in special circumstances the Borough Council can
reduce the notice requirement, on a case-by-case basis.

Employees must submit proof of the other health care coverage in order
