There shall be created one position of Justice Court Clerk; the skills of the Clerk are to be utilized equally by the Town's two elected judicial officers.
A. 
The appointment of a Justice Court Clerk shall require each of the two elected judicial officers to agree on one candidate. Each officer shall submit a written recommendation of such agreed-upon candidate to the Town of Rockland Town Board. The written recommendations shall be subject to approval by a majority of the Town Board to fill the term of office of Justice Court Clerk.
B. 
The term of office shall be for a period of not more than one year.
C. 
Failure of the two elected judicial officers to agree upon one candidate for the position of Justice Court Clerk will immediately vacate the position of any incumbent. The position shall remain vacant until such time as the requirements for appointment are met.
The salary for the Justice Court Clerk shall be in such amount as may be fixed by the Town Board upon the appointment of the person to fill said position.
The position of Clerk of the elected judicial officers shall be in the exempt class of the civil service in accordance with the provisions of § 41 of the Civil Service Law of the State of New York.
