The term of office of elective Town Clerk of the Town of Rockland shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence on the first day of January following the first biennial Town election after the effective date of this article.
At the biennial Town election next following the effective date of this article, and every four years thereafter, the Town Clerk shall be elected for a term of four years.
This article shall supersede in its application to the Town of Rockland § 24 of the Town Law with respect to the term of office of the elective Town Clerk.
This article shall be submitted for approval to the electors of the Town of Rockland at the next general Town election to be held on November 4, 2003.
This article shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State after approval[1] by a majority of the electors voting thereon in accordance with the requirements of § 27 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
