Editor's Note: The preamble to Res. No. 79-4
stated that since the termination of the Borough's joint agreement
with the Borough of Collegeville, there is no one in the status of
chief of police in the Borough of Trappe; that this Borough for many
years had employed, and desired to continue the employment of auxiliary
policemen for certain specifically designated traffic control and
related functions; and that the Act of 1952, P.L. 2016 (1951) [see
53 P.S. § 731 et seq.] requires appointment of auxiliary
policemen by a chief of police. This resolution also repealed Res.
No. 79-2 (2-6-1979).
The person holding the office of Mayor is appointed
Chief of Police, without compensation, for the sole purpose of nominating
such auxiliary policemen for their performance of traffic control
and related functions, in such numbers and for such compensation as
may be approved by council from time to time.
