GENERAL REFERENCES

As used in this article, the following words or terms shall have the following meanings:
DEPARTMENT HEADS
The Borough Clerk, the Borough Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer, the Borough Chief of Police, the Borough Superintendent of the Department of Public Works, and the Golf Course Superintendent.
MEDICAL BENEFITS
Such medical and/or dental insurance coverage as is provided by the borough to the employees of the department of which the department head had supervised.
Department heads with 25 years of continuous full-time service to the borough shall, upon retirement, continue to receive medical benefits from the borough including, where applicable, medical benefits for the spouse of the department head, until said department head attains the age of 65. In the event that the department head dies prior to he or she attaining the age of 65, the borough shall continue to provide medical benefits, where applicable, to the spouse of the deceased department head, until such time as the department head would have attained the age of 65.

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 43:15C-2, employees filling the following positions after July 1, 2007, who are not members of the Public Employees Retirement System, are deemed to be eligible for and shall participate in the Defined Contribution Retirement Program:
A. 
Municipal Administrator;
B. 
Department heads;
C. 
Municipal Attorney;
D. 
Municipal Prosecutor;
E. 
Municipal Court Judge;
F. 
Municipal Engineer;
Individuals serving in the following positions are exempt from Defined Contribution Retirement Program membership, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 43:15C-2:
A. 
Chief Financial Officer/Tax Collector;
B. 
Construction Code Official;
C. 
Tax Assessor;
D. 
Registered Municipal Clerk;
E. 
Licensed Uniform Subcode Inspectors;
F. 
Principal Public Works Manager.
This chapter shall be implemented, construed and subject to the aforesaid Chapter 92 of the Laws of 2007 (N.J.S.A. 43:15C-1 et seq.), as amended from time to time, and any regulations or guidance documents from the Local Finance Board or the Division of Pensions and Benefits.
A copy of this chapter shall be filed with the Director of the Division of Pension and Benefits of the New Jersey Department of the Treasury.
