[Adopted 11-20-1997 by Ord. No. 318]
There is hereby created the position of Municipal Public Defender
to represent Alloway Municipal Court defendants entitled to representation
pursuant to P.L. 1997, c. 257, and any amendments thereto. The Municipal
Public Defender shall be appointed each year by the Township Committee
for a one-year term commencing on January 1 of such year and ending
December 31 of that year. The method and amount of compensation for
the Municipal Public Defender shall be established by ordinance.
Any person applying for representation by the Municipal Public
Defender or court-approved counsel shall pay an application fee of
not more than $200, subject to waiver in whole or in part by the Municipal
Court pursuant to P.L. 1997, c. 257, and any amendments thereto.
