[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Raritan 9-20-1948 (Ch. 49 of the 1966 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby established in the Borough of Raritan a Municipal Court to be known and designated as the "Municipal Court of the Borough of Raritan, New Jersey."
The Municipal Court so established shall be presided over by a Municipal Court Judge appointed by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Raritan, in pursuance with the statutes of the State of New Jersey. Said Municipal Court Judge shall exercise jurisdiction over such offenses occurring in the Borough of Raritan as may be recognizable before said Court under the laws of the State of New Jersey.
The Municipal Court Judge of said Court shall receive an annual salary payable in monthly installments.

A. 
There is hereby created the office of Municipal Prosecutor for the Municipal Court of the Borough of Raritan, New Jersey. The Municipal Prosecutor shall be an attorney at law of the State of New Jersey, and he or she shall, on appointment, take and subscribe to an oath of office in the usual form.
B. 
The Municipal Prosecutor shall be appointed by motion or resolution of the Borough Council, and the term of office of the Municipal Prosecutor shall be one year.

A. 
Any person applying for representation by the Municipal Public Defender shall pay an application fee of $200. The Municipal Court may defer payment of said fee until fines and Court costs are imposed and collected if the Municipal Court determines, in its discretion, that the applicant does not have the ability to pay the fee at the time the application is made.

B. 
The Municipal Court may waive the application fee, in whole or in part, if the Court determines, in its discretion, that the application fee represents an unreasonable burden on the person seeking representation.
There shall be a Municipal Court Administrator appointed pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2B:12-10, as amended and supplemented. The Municipal Court Administrator shall perform such functions and duties as are prescribed by law, the rules of the courts and the Judge.
