When signs prohibiting parking are erected on narrow streets,
no person shall park a vehicle in any such designated place.
When signs are erected upon approach to hazardous or congested
places, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle in any such
designated place.
When signs are erected indicating no parking upon that side
of the street adjacent to any school property, no person shall park
a vehicle in any such designated place.

No person shall park a commercial vehicle, food-delivery vehicle,
trailer, semitrailer, house-on-wheels, bus or school bus, on any street
other than for the expeditious unloading and delivery or pickup and
loading of materials, food or people, or while providing a commercial
service. For the purposes of this section, "food-delivery vehicle"
shall mean a vehicle bearing the name or logo of a food establishment.
All directional and restrictive parking signs having been posted
in the Government Center Garage by the City of Yonkers, the Yonkers
Traffic Engineering Department and/or the Parking Authority and existing
on November 1, 1984, are authorized. The provisions of this subsection
shall be enforced by the City of Yonkers Police Department as well
as any and all other officers or personnel authorized by law to enforce
vehicle and traffic laws, rules and regulations in the City of Yonkers.
Penalties shall be imposed and enforcement shall be undertaken as
provided in this chapter.
When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall
park a vehicle at any time upon any of the streets where parking is
prohibited.
When signs are erected in each block giving notice thereof,
no person shall park a vehicle between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and
6:00 p.m. of any day, except Sundays and public holidays, within the
district or upon any of the streets designated.
When signs are erected in each block giving notice thereof,
no person shall park a vehicle for longer than one hour at any time
between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. of any day, except Sundays
and public holidays, within the district or upon any of the streets
designated.

Owners and operators of taxicabs, private rental vehicles and
livery vehicles, as described by the Code of the City of Yonkers and
the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, shall be permitted to
park their taxicabs, private rental vehicles and livery vehicles on
the streets of the City of Yonkers at parking spaces unrestricted
by parking meters in accordance with parking and traffic restrictions
established by the Code of the City of Yonkers and the New York State
Vehicle and Traffic Law for a consecutive period of time not to exceed
three hours. The vehicle must be moved thereafter to off-street parking
or to a parking space on the street a minimum of 100 feet from the
previous parked location.
No person shall stand or park a vehicle in a roadway other than
parallel with the edge of the roadway, headed in the direction of
traffic and with the curbside wheels of the vehicle within 12 inches
of the edge of the roadway, except as provided in the following subsections:
A. Upon those streets which have been marked or signed for angle parking,
vehicles shall be parked at the angle to the curb indicated by such
mark or signs.
B. In places where and at hours when stopping for the loading or unloading
of merchandise or materials is permitted, vehicles used for the transportation
of merchandise or materials may back into the curb to take on or discharge
loads when the owner of such vehicle holds a permit granting him such
privilege, and such permit shall be either in the possession of the
driver or on the vehicle at the time such vehicle is backed against
the curb to take on or discharge a load, and it shall be unlawful
for any owner or driver to violate any of the special terms or conditions
of any such special permit.

No person shall cause or permit the engine of a motor vehicle,
other than a legally authorized emergency motor vehicle, to idle for
longer than three minutes while parking, standing or stopping, unless
the engine is used to operate a loading, unloading or processing device.
When the ambient temperature is in excess of 40° F., no person
shall cause or permit the engine of a bus as defined in § 104
of the Vehicle and Traffic Law to idle while parking, standing or
stopping at any terminal point, whether or not enclosed, along an
established route.
