Repair garages shall conform to all other applicable requirements
of the Town Code, as well as the provisions of this chapter.
No person shall use any building, structure, shed or enclosure
as a place of business for the purpose of housing, storing or repairing
trucks, trailers or automobiles, whether or not accessory or incidental
to another use, unless specifically provided for in the Town Code
and all appropriate permits, permissions and authorizations have been
obtained from the Town of Smithtown.
The construction, operation and maintenance of all vehicle repair
garages shall be in accordance with the appropriate standards of the
NFPA.
Artificial light in private garages shall be in accordance with
the standards of the National Electrical Code.
When permitted elsewhere by the Town Code, basements used as
repair garages shall be continuously ventilated by mechanical ventilating
systems so constructed as to assure suitable dilution and removal
of gasoline vapors and motor exhaust fumes.
Not more than two gallons of gasoline, exclusive of that contained
in the tanks of vehicles, shall be kept in repair garages. Gasoline
shall be kept only in approved containers.
