As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
MOTOR VEHICLE REPAIR SHOP
A building, shed or enclosure, or any portion thereof, wherein
is conducted the business of repairing motor vehicles.
Except as provided in the following section, it shall be unlawful
for any person to maintain or operate a motor vehicle repair shop
in the City without a permit from the Fire Commissioner.
A person holding a public garage permit issued in conformity
with this chapter shall not be required to obtain a permit to operate
a motor vehicle repair shop.
A permit to maintain and operate a motor vehicle repair shop
may be issued by the Fire Commissioner upon a written application
giving the following information:
A. The name and address of the applicant.
B. The nature of construction of the building.
C. The location of the premises.
D. Other purposes for which the building is used.
No permit shall be issued for a motor vehicle repair shop to be erected after the effective date of this Code unless the building complies with the provisions of §§
32-21 to
32-35 of this chapter and this Code.
For a permit allowing a motor vehicle repair shop as provided
herein, the applicant shall pay an annual fee of $35.
