[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Fairview Township 1-21-1998 by Ord. No. 98-22. Amendments noted where applicable.]
This chapter is enacted under the authority of 53 P.S. § 66520.
Prior to any person occupying a building or structure, or any part thereof, an application shall be made to the Supervisors of Fairview Township or to a person designated by said Supervisors for this purpose of assigning an appropriate number(s) to building(s) or structure(s) in accordance with the Township house numbering system, three copies of which will be kept on file with the Fairview Township Secretary.
Existing building or structures are, henceforth and when this chapter becomes effective, assigned new numbers in accordance with the Fairview Township house-numbering system, except that where possible existing numbers will be retained when not in conflict with the new house-numbering system. The occupants of each building or structure shall have one calendar month in which to contact the Supervisors of Fairview Township or their designated person to secure a number which will be prominently posted at the appropriate place on the building or structure for convenience of identification.
An application for securing a number for a new building or structure shall be made in writing by the owner or his agent upon forms supplied by Fairview Township and shall contain the names of the owner(s) and a description sufficient to identify the building structure for which the number is intended.
The Supervisors of Fairview Township may, by resolution and at their discretion, appoint or designate a person or agency that shall be vested with the powers, duties, and obligations herein set forth. In addition to these duties, the designee shall keep an accurate record of all house numbers assigned in Fairview Township for the benefit of the Township residents and other interested parties.
