[Amended 9-23-2002 by Ord. No. 2002-7]
It shall be unlawful for any person, company, firm or corporation
to tear up, dig into, break up, displace or excavate any of the existing
curbs for the purpose of installing driveways in the Township of Riverside
without first obtaining approval from the Riverside Township Joint
Land Use Board. Each applicant shall pay a $50 application fee to
the Board for approval of the driveway and location, and no notice
shall be required to surrounding property owners. Upon receipt of
approval from the Board, a permit for driveway construction, including
any excavation necessary for same, shall be issued. A separate permit
will be required for each opening made. Any such permit shall state
the location and approximately the size of the opening to be made.
No permit shall be deemed to authorize anything not stated in the
permit. No more than one driveway shall be permitted for any residential
lot.
[Amended 9-23-2002 by Ord. No. 2002-7]
The work on any opening to be made for driveways to be installed under such permit shall be commenced within 10 days from the date of such permit and the work prosecuted with due diligence to its completion. If for any reason work is not commenced within said period of 10 days, the permit shall be void unless within such period of 10 days the applicant shall present the permit to the Building Inspector who shall extend the time for the beginning of said work for another period of 10 days by endorsement on the permit, and no permit so extended shall be valid unless the work thereunder shall commence within 10 days from the date of such endorsement. Unless occasioned by inclement weather or other element outside the control of the permittee, permits may be extended only one time by the Building Inspector, and thereafter a new permit must be issued subject to the process set forth in §
384-4, above.
The driveways to be installed shall be in strict accordance
with the provisions of plan of standard driveways on file in the office
of the Township Clerk, and said plan is a part of this article, and
the applicant will be furnished with a copy of said plan upon requesting
the same from the Building Inspector.
All driveways in the Township of Riverside shall be in accordance
with this article, and any steel plate or other obstructions in the
curbs and gutters in the streets in the Township of Riverside are
hereby specifically forbidden, and any and all old driveways not properly
constructed shall be completed in accordance with this article.
There shall be no variance from the plan on file with the Township
Clerk unless application has been made to the Riverside Township Committee
for said variance, granted by the Committee and after approval by
the Riverside Board of Adjustment.
