All flammable, combustible or explosive materials shall be removed
from buildings or structures before the start of demolition operations.

The person performing demolition operations shall notify the
public utility companies furnishing illuminating gas and electricity
to disconnect their respective services to buildings or structures
prior to the start of demolition operations. Such disconnections shall
be made in the supply lines outside the building or structure.

No on-site burning of demolition material shall be permitted
unless permits have been obtained from the Chief of the Fire Prevention
Bureau.

Where there are multiple buildings to be demolished, demolition
operations shall not commence until all tenants have vacated all buildings
to be demolished in the immediate area.

Where there are multiple buildings to be demolished, those having
siding or shingling of asphalt shall be demolished first.

To prevent the accumulation of demolition debris on the site,
buildings shall be demolished one at a time, with the debris immediately
loaded onto trucks during the demolition process, except where a permit
has been obtained for on-site burning.

All streets in the area of demolition operations shall be kept
clear of debris or other obstructions to allow for the ready passage
and placement of fire apparatus in the event of fire.

Demolition operations shall be so conducted that hydrants and
fire alarm boxes are not blocked by debris or other obstructions.

Buildings awaiting demolition shall be properly secured, including
the boarding up or other closure of all windows, doors and other openings
which are otherwise unprotected.

The chief of the fire department or the chief of the fire prevention
bureau may at their discretion order a fire fighter to guard against
fires at the cost of the contractor doing the demolition.

The regulations and provisions herein relative to demolition
of buildings are intended to be in addition to, and not in lieu of,
certain existing regulations relative to demolition of buildings whether
under city ordinances or statutes of the commonwealth, and whenever
it shall appear that there is a conflict between two rules or regulations
governing such demolition, then the rule or regulation requiring a
greater degree of care or responsibility shall govern. In all other
cases the provisions of this article shall prevail.

Unless specified otherwise any person who violates any provision
of this chapter shall pay the fines as stated below:
First offense

Each day in which any violation exists shall be deemed to constitute
a separate offense. The provisions of this chapter shall be enforced
by the fire department and the police department.
