This article shall be known and may be cited as the "2008 Motor Vehicle Code Ordinance."
This is an article to adopt by reference the Michigan Vehicle Code, 1949 PA 300, MCLA §§ 257.1 to 257.923, as amended, and all future amendments and revisions to the Michigan Vehicle Code when they become effective in the State of Michigan.

The Michigan Vehicle Code, 1949 PA 300, MCLA §§ 257.1 to 257.923, as amended, is hereby adopted by reference. MCLA § 257.625(1)(c) of the Vehicle Code is specifically adopted by reference, pursuant to Public Act 7 of 2012.
All future amendments and revisions to the Michigan Vehicle Code, 1949 PA 300, MCLA §§ 257.1 to 257.923, as amended, when they become effective in the State of Michigan, are incorporated and adopted by reference.
References in the Michigan Vehicle Code to "local authorities" shall mean the City of Royal Oak.

The penalties provided by the Michigan Vehicle Code are adopted by reference. The City may not enforce any provision of the Michigan Vehicle Code for which the maximum period of imprisonment is greater than 93 days; provided, however, that a violation of MCLA § 257.625(1)(c) is punishable by one or more of the following:
A. 
Community service of not more than 360 hours.
B. 
Imprisonment for not more than 180 days.
C. 
A fine of not less than $200 or more than $700.
