The Borough Solicitor shall be responsible for advising the
Council, its committees and the Borough Manager upon all legal questions
arising in the conduct of municipal business.
Requests for Borough Solicitor services by individual Council or staff members must be submitted through the Borough Manager. The duties of the Solicitor shall be as prescribed in Article IX of the Charter and include the following:
A.
Prepare and revise ordinances or resolutions when so requested by
the Borough Manager, the Council or any committee thereof.
B.
Provide legal opinions upon any legal matter or question submitted
by the Council, its committees or the Borough Manager.
C.
Attend all Council meetings.
D.
Litigate all legal actions and claims brought by or against the municipality,
except in those cases in which other legal counsel is retained.
E.
Approve for legality all contracts, agreements or other legal documents
executed by authorized municipal officials.
