As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
CURATOR
A person appointed to manage, procure, preserve and disseminate
materials relating to the local history of Charles County.

A. There is a Charles County Heritage Commission.
B. The purpose of the Commission is to manage, procure, preserve and
disseminate materials relating to the local history of Charles County.

A. The Commission consists of nine members appointed by the Charles
County Commissioners. Of the nine members:
(1) One shall be designated by the Black History Group.
(2) One shall be designated by the Historical Society of Charles County.
(3) One shall be designated by the Piscataway Indian Tribe.
(4) One shall be designated by the Society for the Restoration for Port
Tobacco.
(5) One shall be designated by the Committee for the Restoration of the
Dr. Samuel A. Mudd House, Inc.
(6) One shall be designated by the President of the Charles County Community
College or an appointed representative.
(7) Three shall be members appointed at large by the County Commissioners.
B. Terms.
(1) The term of a member of the Commission is four years.
(2) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor
is appointed.
(3) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for
the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed.
