[Adopted 2-17-1994 by Ord. No. 5-94 (Ch. 13, Art. XVI, of the 1977 Township Code)]
There is hereby created the position of Zoning Officer for the Township of Eagleswood.
The Zoning Officer for the Township of Eagleswood shall be appointed by the Township Committee and shall serve for a term of one year, commencing on January 1 of the year of the appointment and ending on December 31 of that year, or until a successor shall be appointed and qualified. The position of Zoning Officer shall be part-time.
The duties and responsibilities of the Zoning Officer for the Township of Eagleswood shall be as follows:
A. 
To enforce the zoning ordinances of the Township of Eagleswood;
B. 
To issue zoning permits;
C. 
To issue flood hazard letters in writing when requested;
D. 
To answer all inquiries with regard to zoning in the Township of Eagleswood;
E. 
To keep a record of all applications for permits, as well as all permits and certificates issued, with a notation of all special conditions involved;
F. 
To file and safely keep copies of all plans submitted;
G. 
To collect records for zoning permits and flood letters;
H. 
To prepare and submit a monthly report to the Township Committee summarizing all activities of the previous month concerning the duties of the Zoning Officer;
I. 
To coordinate the efforts of the Land Use Board of the Township of Eagleswood and have such other duties or responsibilities as may from time to time be imposed with regard to the Land Use Board;
J. 
To conduct field inspections and special investigations to ensure compliance with various municipal ordinances, initiate and enforce rules and regulations in relation to enforcement of ordinances, initiate necessary legal action against violators of various municipal ordinances, prepare needed reports, establish and maintain the records and files, and may assist in the promulgation of municipal ordinances;
K. 
To perform such other duties as may be directed and requested from time to time by the Township Committee; and
L. 
To issue stop-work orders when necessary.

To be appointed to the position of Zoning Officer for the Township of Eagleswood, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Be a resident of the Township of Eagleswood;
B. 
Have a high school diploma or equivalent thereof;
C. 
Have thorough knowledge of the zoning codes of the Township of Eagleswood;
D. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position;
E. 
Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself or others. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodations cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such person may not be eligible.
The salary for the Zoning Officer shall be established by the Township Committee in its Salary Ordinance.
