Township of Eagleswood, NJ Chapter 109 Checks, Returned

§ 109-1 Title.

This chapter shall be known as the "Returned Check Ordinance" of the Township of Eagleswood.

§ 109-2 Service charges. [1]

Whenever a check in any amount payable to the Township of Eagleswood is returned for insufficient funds, a service charge as set forth in Chapter 135, Fees, shall be added to the account. The service charge shall be paid and credited before any other payment on the account is accepted and credited.

§ 109-3 Unpaid service charges.

Unpaid service charges shall become delinquent and, when applicable, a lien against property is to be enforced in the same manner as other liens.

§ 109-4 Repeat offenders.

Any person whose returned checks become chronic, as determined by the Chief Financial Officer, may thereafter be required to pay in cash or by certified or cashier's check.
