The Town of Sand Lake operates a fishing access site at the northern
terminus of Glass Lake, east of the dam at the outlet of Glass Lake
and west of the Glass Lake dike.
It is the intent of this article to provide for public use of such
access in a manner compatible with the neighboring residences and
with the peace and quiet enjoyment of Glass Lake by lakeside residents
and in accordance with the settlement reached in Glass Lake Preservation
Corp. v. Town of Sand Lake, Index No. 237572, and filed in the Office
of the Rensselaer County Clerk.
The Glass Lake fishing access may be used for purposes relating to
fishing on site or hand launching of boats that are paddle, wind or
electric powered for use for fishing, recreation or travel on the
waters of Glass Lake. No gasoline-powered vehicles of any kind may
be launched at the site, including but not limited to gasoline-powered
boats, personal watercraft, specialty-prop craft, snowmobiles or all-terrain
vehicles. No gasoline-powered vehicle may be used to launch any vehicle
for use on the lake.
Access by unauthorized persons to the Glass Lake dam, spillway
and dike, adjoining privately owned properties and other areas restricted
by signs or fences placed by the Town.
Use of the site is restricted to the Town parking area on the north
side of Glass Lake Road, the access path to the shore and the designated
fishing access area at the shore.
Violation of any provision of this article shall be an offense
punishable by a civil penalty of $100.
This article may be enforced by the Town Code Enforcement Officer
and by any peace officer.
