A. 
There shall be elected by the Board of Aldermen at its first (1st) regular session after the general City election, or as soon thereafter as possible, some suitable person as City Clerk who shall hold his/her office for the term of two (2) years and until his/her successor shall be appointed and has qualified.

The City Clerk shall issue licenses as provided for by ordinances and shall give receipts therefor.

He/she shall keep all the books and ordinances of the City. He/she shall keep an account of all debts due to or by the City. He/she shall procure all stationery, books and other articles necessary for the proper administration of the City affairs. He/she shall render monthly reports of his/her accounts with proper vouchers to the Board of Aldermen who shall settle and adjust the same.

He/she shall receive such fees for his/her compensation as may be allowed by ordinance.

It shall be the duty of the City Clerk to secure and keep within his/her custody an official Seal of the City of Crystal Lake Park inscribed with the words "City of Crystal Lake Park — Seal — Saint Louis County, Missouri." Such Seal shall be affixed by the City Clerk, along with his/her signatures and the signatures of others required, to all public instruments, documents, commissions, licenses, warrants, summons, writs and any other papers which are to be attested by him/her and which may require the same.
B. 
Assistant City Clerk. There is hereby created the office of Assistant City Clerk, effective October 1, 2009, and having a term ending at the first (1st) regular session of the Board of Alderpersons following the general municipal election in April, 2010, and therefater subject to annual appointment. The Assistant City Clerk's duties shall be to assist the City Clerk in performing those duties set forth in this Section and such other duties as the Board of Alderpersons may assign, but all such duties shall be subject to the Board's direction and control.
