The office of Marshal is hereby abolished. The duties of the
Marshal are hereby assumed by the Chief of Police, appointed by the
Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen.

The Board of Aldermen is hereby authorized to appoint a Chief
of Police upon such terms and conditions as to the Board shall seem
appropriate, who shall perform all duties previously required to be
performed by the City Marshal, and such additional duties as the Board
may prescribe.
