No person shall connect to, operate, tamper with or otherwise
make use of any Town-owned, or privately owned, fire hydrant, standpipe
connection, sprinkler riser or any other connection to the municipal
water supply system except as may be specifically authorized, in writing,
by the Water Superintendent or the Fire Chief.
Any police officer, the Fire Chief or any other authorized member
of the Fire Department or the Water Superintendent may prosecute any
person found to be in violation of this bylaw. The penalty for any
violation prosecuted pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 21
shall be the maximum permitted by law and in the discretion of the
court to impose. The penalty for any violation prosecuted pursuant
to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 21D shall be posted with
the Town Clerk.
