The population of the Township of Colts Neck
as evidenced by the Census Bulletin filed with the Secretary of State
of the State of New Jersey on February 22, 1971, is 5,819.
Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:146-2, the Township Committee of the Township of Colts Neck shall
be increased in number from three to five.
The two additional members shall be elected
at the annual election to be held in November 1971, one of which shall
be for a term of three years, and one for a term of two years.
The Township Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to advise those members of the County Committee of each political
party representing the Township of Colts Neck to select a candidate
for the office in question and at least 34 days prior to the General
Election to file a statement of such selection duly certified to with
the County Clerk.
It is hereby declared and announced that in
addition to the selection of candidates by the respective committees
of each political party, candidates may also be nominated by petition
in a manner provided for direct nomination by petition for the general
election as provided for in the election laws of the State of New
Jersey, with the petition, however, to be filed with the County Clerk
at least 34 days prior to the General Election of 1971.
