There is hereby created the office of Code Enforcement Officer
for the City.

The Mayor shall, by and with the consent and advice of the Board
of Aldermen, appoint the Code Enforcement Officer who shall serve
at the will of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

The Code Enforcement Officer shall have a thorough knowledge
of or receive training in the construction of buildings, including
plumbing and electrical work in connection therewith and the application
of the City's building and technical codes as they relate thereto.

A. The Code Enforcement Officer shall serve as the "Building Official" under all building and technical codes adopted in Article
I of Chapter
500 of the Code of Ordinances.
B. The Code Enforcement Officer shall also perform all duties in respect to the compliance and enforcement of the provisions of Chapter
505, Dangerous Buildings; Chapter
220, Nuisances; Chapter
235, Solid Waste; Chapter
405, Zoning Regulations; Chapter
415, Floodplain Administrator for Flood Damage Prevention; and Article
V of Chapter
605, Junk Yards.
C. The Code Enforcement Officer shall file a complaint with a Police
Officer for any violation of the Code punishable as an ordinance violation
and shall provide such information and documentation as may be needed
for prosecution of such offenses, and shall appear in court in relation
to any such case to provide testimony and documentary evidence relating
thereto.
