The Room Tax Commission is created pursuant to § 66.0615, Wis. Stats. The Commission shall have five members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council. One of the Commissioners shall be a member of the Common Council, and one member shall be a representative of the Reedsburg hotel/motel industry. All of the Commissioners shall serve terms of one year commencing May 1 annually. Notwithstanding Chapter 104, Mayor and Council, § 104-5, of the Code of the City of Reedsburg, one individual who is not a resident of the City of Reedsburg, but who is an owner or the owner's designee of a hotel/motel establishment, may be appointed to serve on the Room Tax Commission.
The Commission shall, from time to time, negotiate and enter
into an agreement to provide funding to the Reedsburg Area Chamber
of Commerce for tourism promotion and development activities consistent
with the law. The Commission shall approve an annual program budget
and work in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce to create and
implement a marketing plan and other appropriate programs.
