The owner shall install at least one smoke detector in each
sleeping area of affected buildings.
The smoke detector sensing device shall provide an alarm suitable
to warn occupants within individual dwelling units in the event of
fire.
Smoke detectors shall be wired directly to the building power
supply or shall be battery operated. The owner shall maintain the
smoke detectors in good working order.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall,
upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than
$1,000, plus costs of prosecution, and upon failure to make prompt
payment of same, to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days.
If any section, clause, provision or portion of this chapter
is for any reason found to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid,
such unconstitutionality, illegality or invalidity shall not affect
or impair any of the remaining sections, clauses, provisions or portions
of this chapter.
