The speed limit for both directions of traffic along the streets
or parts thereof described in this section is hereby established at
the rate of speed indicated in said schedule. It shall be unlawful
for any person to drive a vehicle at a higher speed than the maximum
prescribed for that street or part of a street.

(1)

Local deliveries such as UPS, Federal Express, home heating oil,
etc. shall be exempt from this section.
(3)
For purposes of this section local traffic shall be defined as emergency
vehicles, such as fire suppression vehicles, ambulances, and vehicles
relating to law enforcement; school buses operated by duly constituted
school districts; vehicles of governmental agencies and utilities
or their contractors engaged in construction or maintenance on the
posted highway or in a location that can be reached only by the posted
highway, and vehicles going to or coming from a residence, commercial
establishment or a farm located on the posted highway, or which can
be reached only on the posted highway.
(4)
The Polk Township Board of Supervisors reserves the right to enter
into agreements with heavy haulers who determine that they need to
use the road during the restricted period in accordance with 75 Pa.
Code §§ 189 and 193.
(5)
Penalty for violations. Violation of this section shall constitute
a summary offense punishable by a fine not to exceed $500 in the case
of each violation of this agreement, plus court costs.
C.
Weight
limit on Doney Road.
[Added 10-25-2021 by Ord.
No. 2021-03]
(1)
Vehicles exceeding the gross weight of five tons or more are restricted
from use on Doney Road.
(2)
In accordance with 67 Pa. Code § 212 and 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 4902,
R12-1 WEIGHT LIMIT 5 TONS signs shall be posted at both ends of Doney
Road. Such signs may also have a plaque which states, "Except for
Local Deliveries."
(3)
Certain local traffic is exempted from the requirements of this subsection.
For purposes of this subsection, "local traffic" shall be defined
as emergency vehicles, such as fire suppression vehicles, ambulances,
and vehicles relating to law enforcement; school buses operated by
duly constituted school districts; vehicles of government agencies
and utilities or their contractors engaged in construction or maintenance
on the posted highway or in a location that can be reached only by
the posted highway, and vehicles going to or coming from a residence,
commercial establishment or a farm located on the posted highway,
or which can be reached only on the posted highway.
(4)
Violation of this subsection shall constitute a summary offense punishable
by a fine not to exceed $500 in the case of each violation of this
agreement, plus court costs.
(5)
This subsection shall be enforced by the Pennsylvania State Police
or any agent or employee of Polk Township so designated.
(6)
This subsection shall be effective immediately upon adoption.

The Board of Supervisors prohibits commercial truck traffic from
traversing certain enumerated roadways in the Township except for
local deliveries only or use by emergency or public utility vehicles.

by a fine of up to $500 or a period of incarceration or not more than
30 days.
