As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated in this section:
PEDDLER
Includes any person or entity which engages in or intends
to engage in peddling within Edgmont Township.
PEDDLING
Engaging in any form of sale, solicitation or order taking
for any good or service or the solicitation of any payment or donation
of money or property or any commitment for the payment or donation
of money or property from any resident of Edgmont Township at the
home or property of such resident of Edgmont Township.
Peddling within Edgmont Township shall be prohibited unless
the peddler has first applied for and obtained a peddling permit from
the Township in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
No peddling activity shall occur between the hours of 6:30 p.m.
and 9:30 a.m.
The terms of this chapter shall not apply to the following when
a peddler is seeking donations of money or property when conducted
as part of an officially sponsored fund-raising program: Volunteer
Fire and Emergency Medical Services and members of Little League and
Petticoat League and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when accompanied by
a coach or leader and in uniform.

Any person who violates or permits a violation of this chapter
shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding brought before a Magisterial
District Judge in the same manner provided for the enforcement of
summary offenses under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure,
be guilty of a summary offense and shall be punishable by a fine of
not more than $1,000, plus costs of prosecution. In default of payment
thereof, the defendant may be sentenced to imprisonment for a term
not exceeding 90 days. Each day or portion thereof that such violation
continues or is permitted to continue shall constitute a separate
offense, and each section of this chapter that is violated shall also
constitute a separate offense.
