[Adopted 12-21-2004 by L.L. No. 4-2004; amended in its entirety at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
Section 922 of the Real Property Tax Law provides the form and content of the town and County tax bill to be mailed by the collecting officer in each town and showing the amount of taxes due on each party. Cayuga County received 12.7% revenue on transactions done at the Cayuga County Department of Motor Vehicles in the City of Auburn. Mail-in Department of Motor Vehicles renewal forms are preprinted with a central processing office address and a notice stating they must be renewed by mail, which is misleading. It is important that Cayuga County residents are notified that it is still possible to renew Department of Motor Vehicles transactions locally and that by doing so, it will help reduce County taxes.
In addition to the information required by Real Property Tax Law § 922, information notifying County residents that they may renew Department of Motor Vehicles transactions locally, thus keeping the 12.7% revenue in Cayuga County versus going to the state, will be distributed as a separate enclosure inserted into the tax bill mailing.
