The intent of this article is to designate the office of the District Attorney for the County of Cayuga as a full time position.
The Cayuga County Legislature realizes that in order to provide for the most efficient and effective prosecution of those accused of committing crimes within the County of Cayuga that it would be in the best interests of the people of Cayuga County that the office of the District Attorney be designated as a full-time position.
Pursuant to § 700 of the County Law, the office of the District Attorney for the County of Cayuga be and the same is hereby designated as a full-time position. The District Attorney shall give his whole time to his duties and shall not engage in the practice of law, act as an arbitrator, referee or compensated mediator in any action or proceeding or matter or engage in the conduct of any other profession or business which interferes with the performance of his duties as District Attorney.

The salary for the office of the District Attorney as a full-time position shall be established pursuant to County Law § 700, Subdivision 11.
This article shall take effect 45 days after its adoption or as otherwise provided by law.
