After due consideration, it is the consensus of this legislative body that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the County of Cayuga that, in order to encourage volunteer participation in the Cayuga County Auxiliary Police, workers' compensation coverage should be afforded to the members of such organization. Accordingly, it is the intent of this Legislature that this article shall satisfy the legal requirements of § 2, Subdivision 4, of the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of New York and authorize a) the existence of such organization and b) the extension of workers' compensation coverage and benefits membership thereof.
The existence of an auxiliary police organization known as the Cayuga County Auxiliary Police shall be and hereby is created for the purposes of § 2, Subdivision 4, of the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of New York.
Within the meaning and intent of § 2, Subdivision 4, of the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of New York, all members of the Cayuga County Auxiliary Police shall be and hereby are deemed to be employees of the County of Cayuga and workers' compensation coverage shall be and hereby is extended to such individuals during the course of their employment, as that term is further defined by § 2, Subdivision 5, of the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of New York.
