Every owner of land which has been excavated shall erect barriers or take other suitable measures within five days after such owners have been notified in writing by the board of selectmen that in its opinion such excavation constitutes a hazard to public safety. Any person violating this section shall be subject to a penalty as provided in MGL c. 40, § 21(19).
Every owner of land where there is located an abandoned well, shall provide a covering for such well capable of sustaining a weight of 300 pounds or fill the same to the level of the ground. Any person violating this section shall be subject to a penalty as provided by MGL c. 40, § 21(20).
