There shall be the position of Public Works Supervisor in the Borough. Compensation shall be as determined in the annual Salary Ordinance. The Public Works Supervisor shall respond in emergency situations, such as water leaks and flooding.

The Public Works Supervisor will be responsible for:
a. 
All aspects of care and maintenance of Borough property;
b. 
Under direction, plan, organize and direct the programs and activities of the Public Works Department;
c. 
Supervise hourly support staff and has responsibility for employee evaluations and for effectively recommending the hiring, firing, and/or disciplining of employees;
d. 
Keep up-to-date with changes, which would affect department operations and purchase procedures;
e. 
Maintain a working acquaintance throughout the state with contracting, engineering and manufacturing representatives as well as state agencies;
f. 
Keep up-to-date with and maintain compliance with JIF and PEOSHA safety standards;
g. 
Attend all ACMJIF and PEOSHA courses as instructed;
h. 
Repair of roads and walkways to beaches, Borough machinery and equipment including trucks and other vehicles;
i. 
Cutting of grass, shrubs and trees as needed;
j. 
Collection of bags of leaves, grass and other recyclable debris.

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-154.5 et seq. there shall be a Principal Public Works Manager who shall be certified as required by law.

a. 
Public Works Laborer is an hourly position and reports directly to the Supervisor of Public Works.
b. 
Duties and responsibilities include:
1. 
Lawn maintenance and care of all municipal property;
2. 
Branch/twig pick-up curbside;
3. 
Maintenance of municipal owned buildings and grounds;
4. 
Removal of all unwanted debris throughout municipality;
5. 
Maintenance of all municipal signage;
6. 
Obey all direction and instruction from the Public Works Supervisor;
7. 
Attend all ACMJIF and PEOSHA courses as instructed.
