a. Collection of Fee. Persons seeking to be joined in marriage or civil
union by the Mayor or Deputy Mayor shall remit a fee of $250 to the
Chief Financial Officer. An administrative fee of $50 shall be included
within the fee, which shall be considered nonrefundable. In the event
of cancellation, the submitting party shall be required to make written
application to the Chief Financial Officer for the refund of the balance
of $200 at least 48 hours prior to the cancellation of the ceremony.
b. Compensation for Performance of Marriage or Civil Union Ceremony.
It is the policy of the Borough that the performance of a marriage
or civil union ceremony by the Mayor or Deputy Mayor is an important
civic function which requires a significant amount of time and may
cause travel and other expenses. For these reasons, the Mayor and
Deputy Mayor shall be compensated $125 for each ceremony performed.
The compensation shall be in addition to the salary previously established
by salary ordinance. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor shall submit a payment
voucher to the Chief Financial Officer to effectuate payment of the
ceremony performed.
