A. The Borough of Riverton Economic Improvement Committee is hereby
established.
B. The Committee shall consist of nine members, appointed by the Mayor
of the Borough of Riverton; six of its members must own a business,
the seventh, eighth and ninth can be residents of this municipality
and serve without compensation.
A. All members shall serve for a term of two years, shall take effect
on January 1 next succeeding such appointment.
B. Officers. The Council Chair shall choose annually from its Committee
a Chairperson/President.
C. Removal. Council may remove any member of the Committee for cause,
or written charges served upon the member and after a hearing thereon
at which the member shall be entitled to be heard in person or by
counsel.
A. To inquire into, survey and publicize the extent, advantages and
utility of vacant land with the Borough and to classify such vacant
land according to its adaptability to various types of business, professional
and industrial enterprise.
B. To study and analyze various businesses, and industries and professions
with a view to ascertaining the opportunities for expansion of such
business and industries within the Borough.
C. To work with existing Borough businesses in order to aid in their
development and expansion.
D. To work with other local, County, State and Federal Economic Development
entities, by communications through the Chair and his Committee on
behalf of the EDC, in order to advance the Borough of Riverton economic
plan.
E. Recommend to the economic advantages and opportunities and availability
of real estate in the Borough, and encourage and accomplish business,
industrial and professional settlement with the Borough of Riverton.
F. The Chair of the Committee shall report to the Mayor and Council
on a monthly basis as to the progress of the Committee.
A. The Mayor and Council shall have financial duties with references
to the EDC. Said Committee shall annually review the budgetary request
and records of said Committee and in general maintain financial control
of its operation.
B. The Borough Council shall annually appropriate such sum as it may
deem necessary for various membership fees, training, attending seminars
etc.
C. The Economic Improvement Committee is authorized to require the fee
of $100 to be paid by a vendor for municipal events.

NOTE: The Economic Development Committee shall not have any
powers other than those set forth, and specifically shall have no
power to pledge the credit of the Borough or to enter into contracts
or to otherwise create debts except as herein authorized; and shall
operate within the appropriation made by the Borough of Riverton Council
in its annual budget.
