The definitions set forth in the Snowmobile Registration and
Safety Act of the state (625 ILCS 40/1-1 et seq.), hereinafter called
the "Act," as amended, are hereby incorporated herein by reference
and made a part hereof.
Police officers are hereby authorized to direct all snowmobile
traffic in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, or in emergencies
as public safety or convenience may require, and it shall be unlawful
for any person to fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order,
signal or directions of a police officer. Except in an emergency,
it shall be unlawful for any person not authorized by law to direct
or attempt to direct snowmobile traffic.
No person shall operate any snowmobile within the corporate
limits of the Village unless such snowmobile has been registered and
numbered in accordance with the Act and unless the certificate or
number awarded to such snowmobile is in full force and effect and
the identifying number set forth in the certificate is displayed on
each side of the cowling of such snowmobile in accordance with the
Act, which is incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.
All snowmobiles operated within the corporate limits of the Village shall be equipped as required by the provisions of Article
IV of the Act, which is incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.

the Village limits; Illinois Street; East Main Street; Warren Street;
West Street; and North and South Main Street between East Main Street
and Warren Street. All operators of snowmobiles shall gain entry to
the snowmobile route by the most direct and accessible manner without
delay from their homes to the route. Any street of the Village not
designated as a snowmobile route shall be used only by operators of
snowmobiles for the purposes of travelling from their homes to the
routes and back. All persons operating snowmobiles on the routes as
above set forth will remain on or as close as possible to the right
side of the roadway and shall yield the right-of-way to all other
motor vehicles.
Snowmobiles may be operated within the Village as herein above
provided only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight each
day of the week. No snowmobile may be operated within the Village
between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 7:00 a.m. on any day.
In addition to the directions for operation of snowmobiles herein
above set forth, operators must obey all traffic regulations as prescribed
for motor vehicle traffic and are subject to penalties for violation
thereof.
This article shall not be construed to prohibit the use of snowmobiles
in the Village by authorized personnel of the Village, the authorized
personnel of the Warrensburg Emergency Services and Disaster Agency
(ESDA), or the use thereof by authorized personnel of any other governmental
body or agency when said use shall be required for emergency purposes.
[Amended 6-7-2021 by Ord.
