No person shall fire or discharge within the limits of the city
any cannon, gun, pistol, revolver, firearm, firecrackers or fire-works
of any description.
This chapter shall not apply to the following:
A.
Military exercises.
B.
Police officers charged with the enforcement of the law if such officers
are on duty.
C.
The use of a pistol or revolver in defense of life or property.
D.
Fireworks display authorized by permit of the city.
E.
Licensed hunters during legal hunting season when such weapons are
permitted.
F.
Use of blank cartridges for signal purposes in athletic events.
G.
Railroads for signal purposes.
Shall mean any weapon as defined in N.J.S.A. 2C:39-1r.
Where any person(s) is found firing or discharging such weapons
hereby prohibited, any police officer of the city shall be expressly
authorized and directed to confiscate such weapons and deliver them
to the Chief of Police, who shall retain the same as authorized by
the Director of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice.
