Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:63-7(d), the Township Committee hereby establishes the Chesterfield Township Recreation and Community Events Committee as an advisory council to the governing body, to perform the functions that will be established, from time to time, by resolution(s) adopted by the governing body.
The Recreation and Community Events Committee authorized to be established herein shall be comprised of no fewer than five, nor more than nine members, to be appointed by majority vote of the full Township Committee. A member of the Recreation and Community Events Committee shall also be a member of the governing body, and all other members shall be residents of the Township of Chesterfield.
A.
Each member of the Recreation and Community Events Committee shall serve a term of three years, at the pleasure of the governing body, and any member may be removed by majority vote of the governing body whenever the governing body deems same to be appropriate. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the initial terms of the members of the Recreation and Community Events Committee shall be staggered in a mathematical fashion to minimize the contemporaneous expiration of terms and maximize stability. Thereafter, following the expiration of initial terms, each term shall be for three years.
B.
Members of the Recreation and Community Events Committee shall serve without compensation and, as indicated above, shall serve at-will and at the pleasure of the governing body.
The duties and responsibilities of the Recreation and Community Events Committee shall be established and identified from time to time by resolution duly adopted by the governing body.
