This article shall also be known as the "George and Anna Hilzinger House Historic District Ordinance."
The purpose of this article is to provide for the preservation and/or rehabilitation of the buildings and property at the historic sites of the former George and Anna Hilzinger House at 211 Knowles, in the City of Royal Oak, Michigan, also known more specifically as: T1N, R11E, Section 22, Assessor's Plat No. 9, Lot 19, also part of Lots 20 and 29, also Lot II of Central Park Sub, all described as beginning at point distant S 89-39-00 E797.28 ft. & S 01-19-00W 35.99 ft. & S 89-21-00 E 406.32 Ft. & S 89-50-00 E 25 ft., thence S 00-30-00 W 250 ft. from NW section corner, thence S 00-32-59 W 55.92 ft., thence N 89-49-31 W 189-79 ft., thence N 01-18-16 E 97.95 ft., thence S 89-43-52 E 7.61 ft., thence S 00-30-00 W 42 ft, thence S89-49-31 E 25 ft., thence N 00-30-00 E 50 ft. to beginning, excluding Lot 194-3-00 from 026. Tax Item No. 75-25-22-I 26-029.
The Royal Oak City Commission determines that the properties described above are eligible for local historic designation under the guidelines established by City of Royal Oak Code of Ordinances § 82-1 et seq., the Historic District Study Committee Ordinance.
The Royal Oak City Commission hereby designates the properties described in § 82-65 as historic districts pursuant to City of Royal Oak Code of Ordinances § 82-1 et seq., the Historic District Study Committee Ordinance.
The owner or owners of the property described in § 82-65 are required to apply for and obtain a certificate of appropriateness before commencing any work in the historic site. When considering an application, the Historic District Commission will be guided by the standards for rehabilitation set forth by the United States Secretary of the Interior at 26 CFR Part 67 and the City of Royal Oak Code of Ordinances § 82-13 et seq.
