There shall be established a position of Equipment Operator within the Township of Harmony who shall be appointed by the Township Committee of the Township of Harmony.
The Equipment Operator shall be entrusted with operating construction and maintenance equipment requiring the use of power-driven construction machinery and, in addition to such equipment, shall also operate trucks. The Equipment Operator shall also be responsible to service and make minor and emergency adjustments and repairs to the construction and maintenance equipment and trucks, to keep all necessary records in connection with said repairs or adjustments and to incidentally perform manual and unskilled laboring work as required.
Commencing January 1, 1991, no person shall be appointed as Equipment Operator unless he or she has the ability to read and write English, has a minimum of one year's experience in the operation and maintenance of trucks and other maintenance and construction equipment, possesses a valid New Jersey driver's license, is in relatively good health and free from disabling physical and mental defects and, in general, has the ability to use, in a site and efficient manner, trucks and maintenance and construction equipment.
The Equipment Operator shall receive such compensation as shall be provided pursuant to the ordinance fixing salaries of several Township officers and officials of the Township of Harmony, County of Warren and State of New Jersey, as the same shall be amended or supplemented from time to time.
This article shall become effective upon final adoption and publication as required by law. All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this article are hereby repealed.
