There is hereby established the Department of Parks and Trails.
The Department of Parks and Trails shall have charge of the preservation
and maintenance of all parks and trails, and related buildings and
facilities owned or leased by the County which are held, used and/or
operated by the County for County recreational purposes.
There is hereby established the position of Director of Parks
and Trails. The Director of Parks and Trails shall have primary responsibility
for fulfilling the charge of the Parks and Trails Department, as well
as any additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the County
Legislature. In addition, the Director shall have charge, supervision,
and management of:
A. The operation, maintenance and repair of all County-owned parks and
trails and related recreational facilities. Responsibilities include
planning, organizing and budgeting for the department as well as recruiting,
equipping, training and supervising department personnel.
The Director of Parks and Trails shall be appointed, without
term, by the Cayuga County Legislature in the unclassified service
in accordance with Civil Service Law, rules and regulations, and County
policy, as the same may be amended from time to time.
