At the close of each fiscal year and at such other times as may be
deemed necessary, an independent audit shall be undertaken of all
accounts of the town by a certified public accountant. The audit committee
created by by-law, if any, or in the absence thereof, the select board,
shall solicit a firm or firms for such purposes. The certified public
accountant so selected shall have no personal interest, directly or
indirectly, in the financial affairs of the town or any of its offices.
Upon completion of the audit, the results shall be reviewed by the
audit committee, if any, and by the select board and the finance committee.
The results, in summary form, shall be placed on file in the office
of the town clerk and on the town website as a public record and shall
be available in the public library for public information.
